The unveiling of Beastie Boys Square at the corner of Pretty Ricky's was an absolute blast! As soon as I heard about this event, I knew I had to take my 5-year-old daughter with me. Not only did it give me the chance to relive some incredible musical memories, but it also allowed me to introduce my little one to the magic of the Beastie Boys. The atmosphere was electric, with fans of all ages gathering to witness this historical moment. It was heartwarming to see how the Beastie Boys have touched so many lives over the years.
And let me tell you, the t-shirt pressing happening right on the sidewalk was a sight to behold! There's nothing like seeing a piece of art come to life right before your eyes. Of course, the most thrilling part was when Mike D and Ad-Rock themselves took the stage to speak at the unveiling. Their presence brought so much energy to the crowd, and their words resonated deeply with everyone who was there. It's always inspiring to hear from artists who have had such an impact on the music industry.
Now, I must confess, I had ambitious plans to get my vinyl records signed by the Beastie Boys. I brought out Paul Boutique, ready to have them autographed by the legends themselves. However, as luck would have it, I didn't get the signatures I had hoped for. But you know what? It didn't even matter.
Because at that moment, standing there with my daughter by my side, I realized that this experience was about so much more than getting a few signatures. It was about sharing a piece of my musical journey with the next generation.
It was about passing down the love and appreciation for the Beastie Boys to my little girl.
It was about passing down the love and appreciation for the Beastie Boys to my little girl.
And you know what? She loved every minute of it. She may be young, but she danced and sang along to the music, embracing the spirit of the Beastie Boys with an innocence and joy that was simply infectious. It was a reminder that music truly transcends age and time, and it has the power to bring people together.
Not only did we get to enjoy the presence of the Beastie Boys, but we also ran into so many friends in the crowd. From The Sucklord to Charlie Fdstmpz, Lynda Animaineax to The Dog Fathers to Dave Cove (Synapse) , the crowd was filled with familiar faces, each with their own memories and stories tied to the Beastie Boys.
So, thank you, Beastie Boys, for being a part of my life's musical soundtrack. Thank you for this incredible moment that I was able to share with my daughter.
Thank you for the nostalgia, the energy, and the timeless music that continues to inspire generations.

And thank you, Pretty Ricky's, for letting everyone crowd up the restaurant . The location couldn't have been more perfect for this tribute to the Beastie Boys. It's like the universe conspired to bring together the essence of New York City with the spirit of the Beastie Boys. And the result? Pure magic.
Beastie Boys Square is now a cherished part of the city, a symbol of the impact that these three talented musicians had on the world. Whenever I pass by Ludlow and Rivington Pretty Ricky's , I'll always remember this special day, the fun and whimsy that accompanied it, and the love for music that was celebrated.
Long live the Beastie Boys, and long live Beastie Boys Square!
